La Tragedie de Carmen

2nd Nov – Lantern Arts Centre

This production is a reimagining of the famous work by Peter Brook. Bizet’s intense and tragic tale of the four interwoven characters is brought to life by this stage production. It is close to the original giving thought provoking drama of jealousy and unhinged love.

It brings to the for the old adage that all actions have their own consequences, and in this case one of the leading characters, Don Jose has to suffer the repercussions of what he has done. His fragmented flashbacks of his actions brings a stark reality of what he has put into motion.

Directed by John Wikie this dark and thrilling tale has many twists and turns. Performed by Pop-Up Opera who are an innovative touring company whose aims are to broaden the popularity of opera. Their aim is to take opera to places that are reluctant to accept it.

Hagrid’s House Play In A Day

26th Oct – Putney Arts Centre

A great day out for kids between seven and eleven years old, where they can visit Hagrid’s house to see what they can find. Hagrid has supposedly hidden a dragon’s egg somewhere and there is always the possibility of taking a trip into the forbidden forest and come across a unicorn or two.

The kids can help to create their own play in just one day, and then see and act in the final performance.

An Evening Of Opera Classics

1st Nov – Normansfield Theatre

A rip-roaring charity event with all proceeds going to the Princes Alice Hospital. Expect your favourite arias from the most famous operas by Verdi, Puccini and all the other great composers.

Conducted by Sonia Ben-Santamaria, the operatic performers include Jette Parker from the Royal Opera House. La Traviata, Nabucco, La Boheme and Carmen will all be represented plus a few surprises.

Moscow State Circus

23rd – 28th Oct – Clapham Common

The world’s most famous circus will bring its splendour to South London with GOSTINITSA which promises to have all the sparkle and glamour along with edge of the seat thrills and spills to keep the whole family entertained.
