Southfields in Southwest London has a tremendous variety of eating establishments to suit every taste.
Cuisines from traditional English fare to the more exotic such as Indian, Italian, Thai and Pizza are all catered for.
Some of the best eateries in Southfields are listed below.
Wimbledon Park Road
Franco Manca is famous in London and the southeast for producing superb pizzas made specially to their own unique recipes with authentic Italian ingredients.
The Pizza is made from slow rising sourdough and is baked in a wood oven made onsite by artisans from Naples, the oven produces a heat of 500C. The slow rise and blast cooking process lock in the natural flavours of the flour and it’s natural aroma. This gives moisture to the easily digestible crust.
At Franco Manca reservations are normally not allowed, simply turn up and take which table is available.
Quite a unique decor for this authentic Thai restaurant. The Girder as it sounds is a glass table sat on top of a large metal girder.
The reason for this design is due to the lack of space in this rather cramped diner. The food is authentically Thai and whenever possible they use authentic Thai ingredients. There are the usual suspects of Green and Red curries but also some quite nice surprises on the menu. Try the Pla Jhean – deep fried Pomfret and vegetables or Mee Krab which is rice noodles in Tamarind.
This small restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and attentive service, prices are more that reasonable and good value for money.
A modern Indian restaurant with contemporary decor and smart white leather chairs. Although quite a small diner the design is good and the ambience reflects this.
The food is excellent with affordable prices and the menu is quite brave trying to show authentic Indian fare. Although the selection is comparatively small there are still some of the usual curry house favourites but alongside some highly interesting ones as well.
Try the Lamb Salli or the Prawn Pumpkin curry, these dishes are truly Indian and show the diversity and interest of genuine Indian cuisine.
The second of our Indian restaurants to review, Namada mixes the traditional red decor of so many Indian restaurants together with a more modern and interesting menu. Tables are candle lit which accentuates the romantic and intimate atmosphere.
The pricing is competitive and the menu offers a little more than simply Madras, Korma or Vindaloo.
Sample delicious Lamb Chops, Apricot Lamb Curry, Amristari Fish and Tandoori Scallops
Due to the limited selection everything is freshly cooked to order and is simply delicious.
